Our History

The Living Vine was founded by a group of concerned Christians who believed God was calling them to open a home for young women in crisis pregnancies, as an alternative to abortion. This interdenominational ministry was birthed as Christians from all over Savannah, Georgia came together to accomplish His plan.

In January 1996, the conversion of a derelict former Florence Crittendon Home began with countless hours of hard work and sacrifice. Sunday school classes and groups at various local churches decorated rooms, rebuilt the kitchen and converted the old birthing room into a school. The abandoned brick institution was transformed into a beautiful home.

On September 1, 1996, the newly renovated 10,000 square foot building opened its doors for the first resident. Lying on a beautifully landscaped property in midtown Savannah, the ministry comfortably houses up to twelve residents and live-in staff. To date, over 280 expectant mothers and their unborn children have fondly called The Living Vine home.
